** NOTE: There continue to be wildlife findings of highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI) in the region even though the waterfowl “migration” ended months ago. HPAI is still here, and apparently circulating in our wild, resident bird populations. The department has no current plans to prohibit poultry shows in the absence of widespread domestic bird findings, but the department still discourages any poultry shows for 2022. The department would actively support any entity that opts to skip shows this year, and would strongly encourage anyone planning a show to think hard about that decision. The department is available to discuss the various considerations.
